Couple arrested for the murder of their daughter. A Mozambican couple has been arrested and accused of killing their daughter, who was eight years old. The man’s daughter allegedly suffered torture from the pair who resided in Hlogotlou in Limpopo’s Sekhukhune District till she passed away from her wounds on Wednesday.
According to Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, a spokesperson for the Limpopo police, the deceased was allegedly living with her stepmother (31) and biological father (35) who both physically tortured her. Ledwaba claimed that although the neighborhood neighbors of the couple’s home were aware that the victim was being physically abused by her parents, it was too late for them to do action.
“It is reported that on Wednesday, 24 May 2023 a neighbour approached the family following suspicions of a serious incident that occurred to the victim, and through intelligence investigation, it was found that the victim was seriously injured from being physically assaulted. Members of the community sought medical assistance whereby the victim was rushed by an ambulance to the nearest hospital but unfortunately, later succumbed to her injuries,” he said.
The couple is facing two counts of violating the immigration laws, and the police are looking into a murder case. The suspects are scheduled to appear in court tomorrow in Nebo. Police are still looking into everything.
