Early life
On July 18, 1982, Mampintsha was born in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
Before traveling out of town to spend some time in Johannesburg and Durban, he grew up with his parents.
About his early years, not a lot is known. Mampintsha has not disclosed whether he has siblings or stated who his parents are. Zama Gumede is the name of his mother.

Mampintsha began recording songs in 2002 after forming the well-known kwaito group Big Nuz. Mampintsha, Mzi Tshomela, and the late Sbu Khomo were all members of the group. These individuals in the group are all close friends of Mampintsha and have been acquainted since their time in Umlazi. Therefore, the group members relocated from Johannesburg to Durban in quest of a better offer and opportunities.
Despite their talent and diligence, they were unable to receive any fair offers until 2004, when Gallo Records extended them an invitation. They released their debut record on this label with Kid Mokoena, titled Zozo. The record was not well-liked, so they did not receive much acclaim or revenue from it.
In 2008, they released their second album, 2nd Round Knockout, on the brand-new Afrotainment label. They managed to sell 20,000 copies relatively successfully, demonstrating the popularity of their music. Additionally, they won the Metro FM Best Kwaito award.
Their song garnered a nomination for the 2008 Channel O Awards, and the album’s single Uyoysholo Wena was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2008 SAMA. Following the huge success of their first album, they promptly launched another excellent album titled Undisputed.
They collaborated with DJ Fisherman and DJ Tira to increase their notoriety and acceptability. The SAMAs gave them the Album of the Year Award for this Undisputed album, while the song Umlilo from the album won the Song of the Year Award. The group didn’t disband until 2011, the year Pound for Pound, their subsequent album, was released.
They released Made in Africa in 2013 and For the Fans on the same day R Mashesha, one of the band members, passed away. The band member “Mashesha,” to whom the record was dedicated.
The album received the Best Kwaito album and Best Group of the year. The group members also dedicated the awards to their late members. In 2018, Mampintsha dropped his solo studio album titled Gentle Don EP.

Mampintsha was dating Babes Wodumo (Bongekile Simelane), a South African artist. Apart from their love life, he was her manager.
