Ugly Scenes As Zwane Hit By Object After Chiefs Loss. Following his team’s 1-0 loss to SuperSport United, Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane was struck by an object thrown at him by irate supporters and required medical attention.
Chiefs are officially out of the running to still make it into a CAF inter-club competition next season after losing their 11th game of the season, a new low in the PSL era.
Ugly Scenes As Zwane Hit By Object After Chiefs Loss.
As a result of Zwane’s team losing four of their last five games overall, there were unpleasant scenes at Royal Bafokeng Stadium as supporters threw objects at Zwane and several of the players as they left the field.
Zwane was cut by a bottle and required treatment after being hit, according to Mark Gleeson for MTNFC. As a result, he was unable to attend the post-game press conference, where assistant Dillon Sheppard represented Amakhosi.
The coach conveyed his displeasure with his players’ conduct, particularly in the first half, just a few minutes before the nasty incidents.
“Our attitude sometimes is something that you cannot control, it comes from the players,” he told SuperSport TV.
“First of all, we’re playing for a third spot – we win the game and we close the gap. It should come from you, you can come up with tactics, you can come up with everything.
“Maybe the game that we played last week took a lot from us. I think they tried… Maybe [the last] 15 minutes of the game, we looked like we can create something out of nothing.
“Apart from that, we’re not in the game. First half, we’re just going through the motions, giving the ball away cheaply in the middle, because we made them look good.
“They did not win the ball from us [but] we kept on losing the ball, giving the ball to them. We got punished again from sloppy defending and if you look at that goal we could’ve done better in terms of conceding.
“That has been the story of our season.”
Chiefs are yet to make a statement on the incident.
