Bheki Cele reveals why he didn’t attend AKA’s murder scene.

Following the high-profile shooting of South African rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, commonly known as AKA, on Friday, February 10, Minister of Police Bheki Cele has explained why he did not visit the murder scene.

AKA and his companion Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were both fatally shot outside the Wish restaurant on Florida Road in Durban. It has been requested that Bheki Cele solve the case and track down the killers of the rapper. Although he has been quiet about the matter, he did explain why he did not go to the murder scene in a news conference on Friday, February 17.

Cele told the media that they don’t go to murder scenes for cameras. “We don’t really go for cameras. There was no need to go to this one”.

Following the shooting, Bheki Cele disclosed that he had been in frequent contact with Brigadier Vela Cele and Provincial Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. He also mentioned that he had spoken with the Forbves family and that they had approved of the work he had done.

“I spoke at length with the family of AKA Tony Forbes. So why would I have to go to the crime scene?

“The family is very satisfied. I have beautiful messages from the family, which I won’t read”.
