Here’s why AKA documented his last moments & shared all his locations.
AKA recorded all the locations he visited on Friday, the day of his death, using geo-tagged films and live location check-ins in an effort to support Durban small businesses. Philani Kweyama, a friend of AKA, revealed this.
On Friday night in Durban, Kiernan “AKA” Forbes was fatally shot outside a well-known eatery. His longtime friend and author Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane was also shot and killed.

Many people on social media have been asking who ordered the hit on AKA and whether the rapper compromised himself by disclosing his whereabouts as the assassination probe progresses.
The rapper was eager to visit a new restaurant in Durban and get a haircut, according to Philani, one of the men who was with the Fela In Versace hitmaker just hours before he passed away.
AKA, according to Philani, intended to use his social media accounts to publicize the locations they were visiting.
“He called me earlier in the day and said, ‘Benni I know you got a new spot, let’s go check it out. I want to go cut my hair at your place. I keep hearing about the food and the fish at your place, I want to come eat at your place. Benni, don’t worry, today I’m going to promote your business, I’m going to post’.
“That’s why if you look at it he was all like that. He was there to support all of us, he was there to support Durban,” he said during an eNCA live broadcast.
Philani continued by remembering the chats they had over dinner that evening as they caught up and discussed his future ambitions and the situation of the music industry in South Africa.
AKA’s father Tony Forbes thanked his son’s pals, including Saso, Don Design, and DJ Benny Maverick, for being by his side till the very end when speaking to the media during a press conference in Johannesburg on Tuesday.
“The close friends that he had, they’ve been at our side just like they’ve been with him since Friday evening. They’ve been at our side supporting us,” he said.
Tony attacked the rumors and plots that have implicated his close friends as being responsible for his murder, claiming that the friends who were present at the site were traumatized by the event.
“We send our love and support to friends who were with Kiernan in his last moments in Durban, and we feel their trauma and pain as well. Our home will always be open to them. We do not condone what’s been said about his friends and those making dangerous statements, and we appeal to them to cease doing so,” Tony said.
