Man who r@ped his 13-year-old granddaughter gets life sentence.
A Swazi national was given a life sentence in prison by the Chief Albert Luthuli Regional Court in Elukwatini, Mpumalanga, for raping his 13-year-old granddaughter in Mayflower in February 2019.
Police said that after the occurrence, the victim told her mother, who immediately reported the situation.
The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit (FCS) in Elukwatini received the case.
According to Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, the provincial police spokesperson for Mpumalanga, the case was solved by the detectives, and the suspect—who cannot be named since he is the victim’s grandfather—was promptly apprehended.
He said the suspect was arrested on 12 November last year and made his first court appearance three days later.
“[The accused] was denied bail and the matter was transferred to Chief Albert Luthuli Regional Court sitting at Elukwatini on 3 June 2022 where he was found guilty on 24 October 2022,” Mohlala said.
In other news, a 39-year-old Dorandia mother was given four life sentences earlier this month by the Pretoria North Magistrate Court for repeatedly s*xually abusing her five-year-old daughter.
In addition to exposure to genitals, she was found guilty of four counts of r@pe, two counts of s.e.xual assault, three counts of creating pornography, and four counts of r@pe.
The mother committed these acts on her daughter with her boyfriend for their “twisted” pleasure.
She was also ordered to be registered on the National Register of S.e.xual Offenders and to be declared unfit to work with children.
From December 2021 to March 2022, the couple would frequently r@pe the child with items, s.e.xually attacked her, and force her to perform s*xual acts on them.
