She received honorary degrees from Rhodes University in 2018 and the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2012, respectively.

She took to Instagram and wrote: “Today was such an emotional day thank you @tut_official2 to everyone who attended the function words cannot express how I feel ❤️I am encouraged to study further and acquire more knowledge . I have realised that you are never too old to learn.”

Doreen, Refiloe, and Yvonne Ntombizodwa Moloko Machaka were the couple’s three daughters; they were born in Dobsonville, Soweto, in 1965.

She is now referred to as Yvonne Chaka Chaka, the Princess of Africa, a performing artist, businesswoman, and humanitarian.

Yvonne’s life spans from the start of her meteoric rise in 1985 as a music star of contagious pop melodies and dance music at the height of apartheid to her current role as a philanthropist with the recently established Princess of Africa Foundation. Yvonne is the daughter of Puti and Sophie Machaka, a mother of four boys, an entrepreneur, and a businesswoman (2007).
